I decided a while back to try to make money with my websites. All that I was after was to make enough to pay for my web hosting each month. I had no idea that a year later I could be making over $ 400.00 per month and going up. It was a lot of work and time but I loved doing it. You will be building websites and uploading them to the web. Don't worry, it is much easier than it seems. I will take you step by step and show you how I did it. All you have to do is decide if it is for you and go for it. Work at it in your spare time. Be consistent and patient and the money will come!

Once you have decided on your web site topic, keep a few things in mind
You want to make the site interesting to those that share your interest or desire your knowledge. DO NOT USE SOMEONE ELSE'S CONTENT! Make it your own words and thoughts. Remember, if it really interests you, then there are probably thousands or maybe even millions that are into the topic as well. I don't care what you pick. How about scrap booking or baseball teams from the 70's? I hope you get my drift here. If you make it interesting, they will come! You now have decided on your topic...what do you do with it? you are ready, you can copy and paste the text to a web page maker program and start getting your website ready to publish. Don't worry about the pages although I believe that the more quality pages that you have, the more visitors you will get over time since the search engines will index most pages of a quality site, and send visitors to these pages. Don't push it though. A 3 page site with quality content is much better than 100 pages of crap. Here is a pointer, if you read it and it bores you, it will probably have the same effect in others. Keep it on topic and interesting as well as informative.

I built an advice site for job seekers. I was a police chief and office manager over my career and have interviewed hundreds of prospective job applicants. I was amazed at how ill prepared that a lot of the applicants were so I wanted to give job seekers tips and pointers to help them have a better chance at a job. I created www.jobsearchhelpnow.info. I also have a love of police cars and funny cop stories so I created www.funnycopblog.com.
These were two websites that were fun and I really wanted to let others share in the cop site so I made it so that they could upload pictures and stories as well as jokes and more. It was fun for me and it was a subject that I was familiar with. I don't care what the topic is, just make sure that you know it. Having interesting content is the key to getting your site online and getting hits to it. Maybe you are great at dog training or maybe you are a sports addict. There are millions of folks that are interested in these topics. How about boating, flying a plane, golfing or whatever. The most important thing to remember is content is king!
How much will this cost me and how much can I make?
If you are new to making money with websites, the cost to get started are whatever you pay for a web host and it also depends if you want to make your own sitemaps or you want a program that does it for you. (Learn more about sitemaps in the sitemap lesson page) Figure $ 7.00 to 8.00 per month to host all of your domains and if you want to buy a sitemap creator, that would be around $ 40.00. The first domain is free with a lot of web hosts and the cost of other domains are typically between $ 10.00-20.00 per year. As far as what you could make...well let me put it like this. I pay $ 7.95 per month for hosting, I bought a sitemap creator for $ 39.95 so I pay about $ 96.00 per year and paid $ 40.00 originally for the sitemap program. My expenses for one year were about $136.00. I am making over $ 400.00 per month (and going up) with my sites and am building more. It took me 9 months to get to this point but I figure it is worth it. I know of others that make over $ 25,000 per month with one site and it could happen to you. However, I would count on making about $ 80.00-$200.00 per month per site after about a year. It takes time for sites to get indexed and up where people will find them. Originally, as I stated earlier, I was hoping to just make enough to pay the hosting fees for my sites, but now I know that it is true that you can make money with websites. How much will depend on how much you put into it and your level of patience. In time, I hope to be able to retire and just build websites to make an extra income. Like I stated, this isn't get rich or anything like that. This is make extra money in your spare time.
How much will be up to you in the long run. I will tell you this, I am going to tell you all that I can to make you successful. The advice is free. I am doing it and I am not a web site genius or anything. There are a lot of tricks and ideas that I have tried over the last year. Some worked and some didn;t. I am going to share the details with you. Decide what you want to try and go for it. If you make it informative with good content, and do good meta tags (It's easy, more on that later), you can make money at this. Where else can you
